Welcome to Aberaeron

A very warm welcome to Aberaeron, which is by now two hundred and one years old!  I had the wonderful privilege of co-presenting the fantastic Gala Concert “Stars on the Square” with Huw Edwards as part of the Bicentenary Festival in 2007.  Since then, a question that I frequently hear is “Are they going to do this again?”  The positive response to that concert and other events of Festival Week was astounding, and has certainly helped to put the town on the map!  It has attracted even more visitors and supporters, if we really needed that!

When I return to Aberaeron and its environs, I like nothing more than spending a lazy afternoon with my friends on the wall outside the Harbourmaster Hotel – catching up with many people, with a large glass of wine in one hand, and a honey ice cream in the other – perfect!

However, there is much more in this town than the beautiful hotels, the picturesque harbour and the postcard houses.  There is something for everyone, from clothes shops to craft shops, from the North and South beaches to the fascinating coastal walks, and also the attractive restaurants, the charming taverns and the famous chips!

Let us not forget also the Annual Carnival, the Festival of Welsh Ponies and Cobs, the Seafood Festival and the Rugby Sevens – I wish I was there!  I don’t need an excuse to come home – all I need is the time to return to one of my favourite places in the whole world.  Therefore, friends, enjoy your time in the town and area – I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed!   Eleri Siôn
